Bookings and scheduling

Bring customers back with MOT reminders

An MOT falls due once a year, and most people leave it to the last minute, then book with whoever reminds them first. That's the whole game.

Where it hurts

A customer you did last year is a customer you'll probably lose this year if you say nothing. They're not disloyal, they just forget who did it, and they book wherever the reminder or the search result points them.

The reminder is the bit that gets skipped. Nobody's got time to go through the records, work out whose test is due next month, and message them one by one. So it doesn't happen, and the repeat work quietly leaks to the garage down the road.

It's the same story for services, cambelts, air-con regas, anything on a schedule. The information to bring people back is sitting in your records; it's just never turned into a nudge at the right moment.

What I'd build

I'd start with the mechanics: your customer and vehicle records feeding an automatic reminder that goes out a few weeks before each MOT is due, by text or email, in your wording, with a link or number to book straight in. Where the reg can be checked against DVLA data I'll wire that in, so due dates stay right without anyone typing them. Then the layer that saves the desk time: replies come back as plain words ('book me in Saturday', 'sold it', 'already sorted'), so an AI step reads each one, drafts the booking answer for someone to approve, and quietly marks the sold and gone-elsewhere cars so they're never chased again. Non-responders get one polite nudge, then it leaves them alone. Services, cambelts and regas can run on the same rails.

What changes

  • Every customer nudged before their MOT falls due
  • Due dates checked against DVLA data, not typed by hand
  • Replies read and a booking answer drafted for the desk to send
  • Sold or gone-elsewhere cars marked so they aren't chased again
As with everything here, you get one number before any work starts; here's how pricing works.
