An aged debtors report that shows who owes you money
Ask most owners how much they're owed right now and you'll get a pause, a guess, and a look that says they'd rather not know. The money's real, it's just hard to see all in one place.
Where it hurts
The information's in your accounts, but it's spread across an aged receivables report you rarely open and a memory of who promised to pay Friday. So the debtor list lives half on screen and half in your head.
The oldest debts are the ones most likely to go bad, and they're exactly the ones that slip out of view. Out of sight, they drift from thirty days to ninety, and the awkwardness of chasing only grows with the age.
What you want is boring and useful: one list, who owes what, how overdue, sorted worst first, that you can trust without cross-checking.
What I'd build
I'd pull your outstanding invoices from Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent into one clear view: who owes you, how much, how overdue, worst first, refreshing on its own and landing as a short weekly email too. Then the half that normally lives in your head: an AI step reads the email threads with your late payers and puts the state of each conversation next to the debt, so the list shows "promised Friday", "disputing the amount" or "gone quiet" rather than just a number. It flags the ones drifting into worrying territory, and it can draft the polite chase for you to approve, so the awkward emails get written even on the weeks you can't face them.
What changes
- One trustworthy list of who owes you, sorted worst first
- The last promise from each late payer shown next to the debt
- Old debts flagged before they quietly go bad
- Chase emails drafted for you to approve, not written from scratch
