Build a business dashboard in Google Sheets
Spreadsheets aren't the problem. Yours are just held together with copied cells and formulas nobody else dares touch.
Where it hurts
Most small firms have a spreadsheet that started simple and grew into a monster. Every month someone pastes in fresh figures by hand, a formula breaks, and half a Friday goes on making the totals agree.
And because it's manual, it's always a bit out of date. You're making decisions on last month's numbers because this month's haven't been keyed in yet.
Google Sheets can do far more than most people use it for. It can pull figures in automatically, tidy them up, and show them as something you'd actually be happy to put in front of the bank.
What I'd build
I'd take the spreadsheet you already rely on and rebuild the messy parts so they feed themselves. Sales, costs and cash come in automatically from your accounts package or your till, and a clean front tab shows the totals, trends and a few charts without you touching a cell. Then the finishing touch: once a month, AI reads the numbers and writes a short plain-English note at the top, what moved, what stalled, what needs an eye, so you get the story as well as the figures. It stays in plain Google Sheets, nothing new to learn or pay for, and I'll write down how it works so you're never stuck with it.
What changes
- The numbers arrive on their own, no monthly copy-paste ritual
- A front tab with totals, trends and charts that stay current
- A monthly plain-English AI note: what moved and what needs an eye
- It's still just Google Sheets, documented and yours
